Testimonial #12: C.J and family

My wife and I went to Best Buy to shop for some book shelf speakers for the living room. Nothing too extravagant, just a little something to add some sound when we were watching movies. So we went to Best Buy here in Humble, Tx.

Well we shopped all around, even in the home theatre section (though was too much) and must of listened to at least 100 different models of speakers. Well we finally heard the pair that would take us home - Aiwa SC-A78 series. Man, you would not believe the sound from these little buggers.

Anyhow, when we went to the sales rep, I told the guy at the counter which pair we wanted. He told us that they would out of stock on the speakers and that particular model was discontinued. We asked if he could call another Best Buy, maybe one in Houston (not too far from Humble, Tx) and have them transferred. He told us that if they didn't have them then none of the other stores would either.

Well he asked him to call anyway. He called 2 stores in front of us (or pretended he did) and told us, "See, I told you that no other store would have them." So my wife and I asked if we could buy the demo model on the floor. He and a member of management told us no, that they couldn't be sold, they HAD to be there incase the store was audited. We asked why if the model has been discontinued. They both told us that would knock point off their score regardless.

So we discussed buying our #2 choice of bookshelf speakers which were a pair of Yamahas which were pretty good. Not as dynamic and the Aiwas, but good. After listenting to the two again, side by side, I talked my wife into going home and searching for them ourselves on the internet or something. So we left the store empty handed and would should of never looked back.

Once we got home, I didn't even get a chance to get on the internet, my wife had the Yellow Pages and called TWO Best Buys and to our surpise, found the speakers!! The only drawback was this Best Buy was waayyy the hell out there and we askd them to transfer the speakers to the one here in Humble. The lady on the phone told us sure, it would only be couple of days.

Well we waited a three days and then called the Best Buy in Humble to see if they had received them and told them that we found the speakers and they were on their way. The same guy who waited on us before had answered the phone and I knew that he knew it was us by the brand and model of the speaker. He told us that they wern't there. So we call the other Best Buy to see if they had been shipped. They told us yes. So I told my wife that the same little punk that was there when we went answered the phone and that I was going to call back when I thought his shift was over and see if could get a different answer.

So I called back, some female answered in the electronics department and told me the same thing. So I informed her that there was a transfer of them and that the speakers should of been there. She asked me to hold and when she came back to the phone, she told me that they were there and that someone had accidently placed them on the shelf!

I was like DAMN, please get them off the shelf (remember that these were no longer being made) and that I would be there in just a few minutes! She laughed, told me sure and that they would be waiting for me behind the counter. I yanked the wife and we took off, got to Best Buy and our speakers WERE STILL ON THE SHELF WITH MY NAME STILL ON THEM FROM THE TRANSFER STICKER!!! This was about 30 minutes after the call.

Needless to say at this point I was pissed. The little punk was still there and went I took out speakers off the self, he told me, "Well, you finally have your speakers." At that point I asked for a memeber of management and told him the whole ordeal and what we went through. He looked as though he didn't even care and asked if we were still going to buy the speakers and you know what.....we *almost* did not, but figured what the hell? We went through all the trouble to get them here in Humble and if we didn't buy them someone else would, so we did and have NEVER been to Best Buy since then.

We complained ALL the way up though the ranks about this problem and nothing was done nor did we even get an apology, not even verbally. So we just decided to stop shopping there or any Best Buy.
