Testimonial #32: BB customer service: "good, just get out of here!"

I went to BestBuy to Buy a Tivo Series 2... The clerk kept asking me if I had direct TV... I told him no I didn't have it... don't need it in order to have a Tivo Series 2 I already have a Series 1 without it and it worked just FINE... So we get to the register and he starts to complete a direct TV form I told him once again I don't want DIRECT TV, he had to go as his associate if he could get by without completing one he was told yes he could theirs no card that needs to go into the unit (like direct TV has)... So finally we begin the ring up process and he starts asking all my personal information, which was not necessary I wasn't purchasing a extended warranty or signing up for ANY service.. so I declined the purchase and left the additional items I was going to buy in his hands.. In the meantime he insulted me telling me that not of my information would be used on a mailing list or sent to the FBI.

I then when to the "customer service counter" and asked to speak with a Manager in regards to my purchase and the customer service in which I had experience. A grumbly older no-so-gentleman comes up in no mood to hear what I have to say and listens to me. I tell him that I wanted to purchase a Tivo series to and if I didn't need a service contract or a warranty why I need to give out any personal information just to make a purchase. I was going to use my credit card to purchase. He then told me it's for the direct TV.. I told him I'm not getting direct TV it works with my cable. He then said it's for the Tivo service (previously I just got my service once I got home over the telephone and no were on the display card did it indicate I would be signing up in the store.) I asked why the service person that originally helped me could not provide me with that information and I also told the "operations manager" that the sales person was a smart ass. The operations manager continued to engage me in his cocky attitude in which I had experience from the beginning of my engagement with him and say "and just who is this person" (I had already previously stated that I was buying a Tivo so you would think he could assume it was some one in his Audio Video department) He finally figured it out and asked me in a rude and decision made answer already that I the customer was wrong "And you tell me just how was he a smart ass"... At this point I informed him that it was in the same manner that he too was being a smart ass.. He then became very violent and said "are you calling me a smart ass?" I then turned around to exit the store and he said "good just get out of here!".

What great customer service!

I've never spent much in BestBuy I don't know why I continually go there, there's never anyone to assist theirs always plenty of employees standing around talking at ANY BesyBuy that I go to. The few items I actually got to purchase and get out the door with were all small dollar items that I could get myself. During Christmas of 2002 my relatives and I went to purchase them a HDTV a DVD copier that connects to the TV and a Computer.. we got disgusted being ignored by the help there and finally left.

DOWN WITH BEST BUY!

I'll continue to support Circuit City where the customer is right and appreciated.
