Testimonial #42: Help the male first!!
The Store I used to work at was recently converted
into a "demo" store. There are only four Demo stores
in the nation and one of them is 15 minutes from my
house. The main differences you'd notice is that
there are leather couches, about three in every
department, with a Television to play video games or
watch movies and so on. They have a newly designed
Media Department which allows them to have the
clearest view possible of all the rows of CDs and DVDs
so they can prevent theft more efficiently. The store
currently contains 2 General Managers and 2 or 3
managers for every normal manager. They apparently
need more managers to control the Demo Store. Best
Buy Corporate also has sent people to take opinions
and surveys from customers on the new layout. In
addition to appearence, all the staff were retrained
to a new form of "customer service and awareness" My
insider discussed with me the 7 hour retraining
meeting they had at a popular ritzy hotel. The new
strategy was to target all sales at the "Rich Men
between the ages of 19 and 55" demographic. It was
said that studies have shown that this group really
wants to look 'cool' and will pay whatever they can to
end up that way. The new plan is to basicly gear all
advertizing to this new demographic and they were
specifically told, that if there are two people
looking at the same product, help the male inbetween
19 and 55 first. I will try to get more details on
other new selling strategies for this "DEMO STORE"
All employees had to sign a 13 page non-disclosure
agreement that said that they could not discuss the
new strategies with anybody other then fellow Best Buy
Co-workers. This is why it is difficult for me to get
information. Anybody bringing a camera of any sort
into Best Buy better not be cought taking a picture or
else they will be escorted out of the store. Mum is
the word here and I will get as much information as
possible.
