Testimonial #54: Day by day breakdown of events!
August 6, 2003 I take my laptop into bestbuy because the power cord was not working, simple enough I thought, I'll probably just get one on the spot and go home, the $300 service plan i bought surely covers that....
Ok they will have to send it in to get fixed, should take 2 weeks. For a new power cord? er ...ok send the damn thing in i guess, i cant use it with no power so i have no choice.
August 29, 2003 I get a call from Bestbuy, ok it took 23 days to get me a new cord but, whatever, im ready to roll now. I get to bestbuy, get my computer and get out of there as soon as possible. It was only a bad cord, surely they didnt screw it up. Well I was dead wrong there. Now i know it was the cord that was the problem becuase when i originally took it in, the clerks had a cord that worked just fine on my computer.
But these great minds decided to open my computer and start sodering random parts. Not only did I find that my power cord was still not working, the floppy drive was busted to a point i couldnt put a disk in, and to top that off, the laptop would no longer stay closed. Not to mention the password feature when powering up my laptop was now gone. Why did u need to cruise my folders, all i needed was a new damn power cord!
Later that day I take the computer back to Bestbuy and explain all of the above. The clerk tells me that they will have to send it in again, but this time it will be mailed back directly to my home.
Sept 22,2003 OK the UPS guy comes today to give me my computer..good,great,grand, wonderful..finally i have my computer back, i tear open the box and the first thing i read is the invoice or whatever..i see that bestbuy was charged $120 for a new cord, or so it would seem. i take my laptop out of the box and commence to tearing apart the damn thing wanted to see my pretty new cord! Haha well the joke was on me again, because in this box that was sent me was no cord! Not only did they not send me the new cord that was on this invoice, they didnt even send me the old cord back. i pick up my laptop to make sure there isnt some new crazy miniture power cord under it, and i hear things rattling around inside my computer, and the thing still will not close anymore.
Later that day After calling their national office of customare care, and taking the computer back into bestbuy, i was satisfied with what i heard. The frienly, karioke loving Curtis behind the counter informed me and my wife that when they tightened the computer after 'fixing' it, they tightened it out of allignment, which is why it wont close, and this will cause stresscracs to prematurely appear on the case. Well the national customer care lady Kristie, called clerk Curtis, and i was informed that I would have 1500 store credit after it goes through, and to go home and wait for a call.
Present day After realizing that the call i was waiting for was most likely never coming, i called Kristie at the national customer 'care' and she did not remeber me. She also did not get the message i left her earlier that week, or the message i witnissed Mike, another clerk from bestbuy with extremely long fingernails, leave her.
I was informed i would have to take my computer back in to get it sent in and repaired......
RECAP:
2 months without laptop, going on forever,
3.physical issues with the laptop CREATED by thier 'fix it team', whoever that may be.
3 clerks and 2 national customer care representatives on my kill on sight list
0 things i will ever buy from bestbuy again.
