Testimonial #82: Best Buy got the money and he got the shaft.

Here is my story.

On Jan 6th 2004 I decided I needed to upgrade my hard drive storage. I decided to purchase 2 Seagate SATS 120 GIG hard drives. Now after being told they were in stock at several stores in the quantity I desired. Needless to say this was not the case.

Finally after finding and selecting 2 drives from 2 different stores I went home to install the new computer hardware. I open the first box and all was fine. I open the 2nd box and I find a 30Gig drive that has an ATA interface.

At this point I am like ok I will go back to Best Buy and exchange it.

I go to best buy explain the problem to the manager and he tells me the serial number of the product does not match the serial number on the box. Because of this he can not help me.

I say yes that’s why I am here because you sold me a product and I did not receive the proper item. The manager looks at me (mind you my wife and daughter are with me) tells me we have people do this to us all the time and I won’t let you get away with it. He basically accused me of switching and trying to get a refund.

After much arguing he tells me all I can do is call Seagate and tell them the problem.

Next Day.

I call Seagate they tell me I have to deal with best buy.

Calls to Main office.

Talk to 3 different people not one of them would solve the problem or help me get it solved. It seems once they have you cash they no longer have a use for you.

So, at this point I am out 161 dollars and have no way of getting my money back except to go to my credit card company and have the charges reversed.

Seagate got there money, Best Buy got there money and I got the shaft.
