Testimonial #90: Current employee keeps it real
Currently i am an employee at best buy. Ok, you may have your comments and complaints about best buy, and for the most part, i dont blame you. Everyone has a bad experience when they shop. I am not sending this to convince you, "Woo! best buy is the best man", cause frankly i dont think that. Recently Best Buy Canada has screwed us over. We are supposed to recieve a 70/30 payout check in the middle of april, which would be to every best buy employee. This money comes from the money that we obtain from stopping shrink (which is theft, product breaking, and stuff like that). Well, less than a month before this check should be given, we are informed from head office that since 2 best buy stores in Toronto didnt make the numbers, we no longer get the money. Now, this is a little bit of a piss off, considering they dont pay overtime *ILLEGAL*. Well, seems they are "investigating" the matter, considering in document does it EVER mention that all best buy stores had to meet the target. But enough about that...
Well, most of your complaints seem valid. Yes, sometimes a best buy employee doesnt know everything. Thats just the way the cookie crumbles. But to make a generalization that all best buy employee's are no-brained loosers who know jack-all about anything is a bit unjustified. Now, i cant say i know EVERYTHING, cause i dont. But i know what i need to know. Personally, everyone that i have met at my store is well-knowledge in their departments (excluding a few dip-shits). For the most part, we have pretty good store.
Now, the issue of PRP, and PSP. Yes, managers do pressure these things, VERY strongly. And if you ask me "Does this piss you off?" i would answer "Damn rights it pisses me off". Seriously, what do i gain from selling PRP? My 70/30 pay check already went out the window, i dont get paid overtime, and i work absurd hours, and am left alone to close media, which takes about 2 hours to close, and have to stand around at a fucking "evening meeting" while they jammer on about numbers (like i give a shit, im here to get paid) and then i get the bitch talk the next day for not finishing. "HELLO!!" its not my damn fault.
I cant say i Love working at best buy. I also cant say i HATE it. Yes its a very stressful job, especially being alone in such a big department as Media. But truefully, the thing i was getting at, before i got distracted by anger, is that not all best buy stores are hell in a box with yellow tag on the top. Some stores do have well trained staff who are willing to do their best to help the needs of customers.
One more thing that pisses me off. "Improving the performance of a product by selling monster cables and accessories is not optional".....That is the statement made by our CEO....How pathetic can someone get. "You must sell Monster cable, cause then i get more money". Anyway, im done, good day/night/life
